The information displayed in the Cartridge page helps show how efficiently archives are saving disk space.

Each time a cartridge is inserted into the dock, the software will display the physical free space of the cartridge under the "% Free" column. The percentage of physical free space is recalculated after each backup. Also, a graph is displayed in the lower panel which shows the trend of the physical free space of the cartridge after each archive.

The Free Space Trend graph allows a visual interpretation of the efficiency of your backups.

The number of protection plan runs that have been stored on the cartridge is shown at the bottom left of the panel.

When the remaining free space of the cartridge reaches or is below 10% of the total capacity of the cartridge the software will display an Alert and the current backup will end with a Warning. See Alerts for more information.

When the remaining free space of the cartridge falls below 5% the plan will not run. The cartridge can be set aside for restore purposes or can be erased and used again. See Cartridge Utilities for details on re-using a cartridge. See Alerts for more information on Cartridge Full alert.
